What is Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)?

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is a sub-specialty of medicine, sometimes known as physiatry. A PM&R provider is devoted to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurologic, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary and other disorders that may produce temporary or permanent impairment and associated functional disability. Treatment options include:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Medications
  • Injections
  • Stroke rehabilitation

Pain Management Treatment

Neuroscience & Rehabilitation Specialists offer Pain Management care for our patients who suffer from chronic pain. The most common area of the body to have chronic pain is the neck and back. The most common causes of this pain are degenerative changes in the spine and accidents or trauma. We offer pain management patients a range of treatment options which are customized to meet each individual patient’s needs. These options include:

  • Injections
    • Medial branch blocks
    • Epidural injections
  • Spinal cord stimulation
  • Medications
  • Treatment of underlying causes such as diabetes, thyroid disease or vitamin deficiencies
  • Physical or occupational therapy, as appropriate
